God With Us
Dear Aglow Family,
What a gift we have received that the Son of God came down to earth and is with us eternally as we put our trust in Him. As He gave us the great commission He said, “And be sure of this: I am with you always even to the end of the age.”
As we celebrate Christmas with families, loved ones and in our communities may the focus of the fullness of this gift from heaven still fill our hearts. We carry this gift of life and salvation and hope all year long to share.
In my thinking I often link two stories of birth in the scriptures together.
The story of Ruth and the child she bore to Boaz and Mary giving birth to Jesus.
Ruth made a choice to follow Naomi and said, “Your people will be my people and your God will be my God.” (Ruth 1:16) The child she gave birth to, Obed, is in the direct lineage of Jesus.
Ruth’s profound choice to follow Naomi influenced history.
Mary was chosen by God to bear His son. Mary made a choice to accept God’s plan and responded to the angel, “I am the Lord’s servant, may your word to me be fulfilled.” (Luke 1: 38)
Mary’s profound choice changed the world.
The call God has upon each of our lives and His empowering to perform it are the same. We have all made the choice to follow Jesus and we bring forth the fruit of our lives under the power and enabling of the Holy Spirit.
I believe Aglow is finishing 2019 strongly and I know GOD IS WITH US as we enter into 2020. There is much to be expectant and hope for. I have received 3 requests to start new Aglow groups; we are honoured to have Ben Gray with us for 4 Regional Meetings around the nation; Christine Sakakibara from Jerusalem is coming for 2 Regional meetings; and the South Pacific Conference in Fiji in July.
Let us rest in the powerful truth that God is always with us.
Let us enjoy this Christmas season of HOPE, JOY and PEACE.
Let us enter 2020 rested and strong, full of faith in our call.
God is with us.
With love from the Management Team
