35th Anniversary Aglow Gosnells

Shelley Summerfield

On Thursday18th April Aglow Gosnells celebrated our 35th Anniversary.

There was such a sense of love, unity and excitement as the wider Aglow community came together to commemorate with us on this important day. We started proceedings with a special morning tea. The hall was set up with beautiful tablecloths, fresh flowers and each place setting complete with a biscuit embossed with '35th'.

We sang of the goodness and faithfulness of God and His blessings to us over the past 35 years. We read out 1 Kings 17: 4. For thus says the Lord God of Israel: The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth in response to this. To encourage the ladies to always be prepared, they were each given a beautiful coin purse with a seed offering in it to be sent out into the community.

We honoured past leaders: Kath (Ward) Yuill, our founding leader who served for 8 years and still attends Aglow Gosnells today; Kaye Ballantyne who served so faithfully as leader for 26 years; Dianne Kennedy who served on the first committee and Marie Brown who was at the first meeting held in October 1988. We also honoured past and present committee members who served so faithfully over many years in Gosnells. We watched a beautiful slideshow of the history of Aglow put together by Carla Malin. It even contained a photo of the first committee members.

Our guest speaker for the day was Mrs Kerry Phillips, former Aglow Leader of Kalgoorlie. She spoke on faith and encouraged us in our faith journey.

We were blessed by some encouraging words and prophecies given out on the day. One spoke of a new sound coming out of Gosnells.

Psalm 145:9 The Lord is good to all and His tender mercies are over all His work.

I would like to thank Carla Malin who is on the committee with me and helped make this day possible.

Love and Blessings
