Parliament House Covered in Prayer
On November 2nd we, (4 NSW Presidents: Allison Melloh, Sue Peacock, Judy May, Peggy Phillips; and the 2 Canberra Presidents: Jeanette Hillman and myself) met for a prayer walk around the outside perimeter of Parliament House Canberra. We walked the road that rings The House, stopped at each corner of the House and anointed the ground with oil from Israel. We also stopped at the entrance of each underground car park and prayed as we stood outside the Parliamentarians Carpark Entrance.
As we prayed Isaiah 45:1 - 3 came to mind and we read the Word out loud:
"This is what the Lord says to his anointed, to him whose right hand I take hold of to subdue nations before him and to strip kings of their armour, to open doors before him so that gates will not be shut: I will go before you and will level the mountains, I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who summons you by name."
We prayed in the Spirit and with the Word. Walked on singing a song or two, praying as we went enjoying the beautiful sunny day and views of the House from various angles.
Workmen building a new security wall around The House looked up as we went by. Prayer went up for them too and we were not unaware of the importance of new walls being built.
Sue Peacock was carrying the Light Horse Banner around her shoulders and when we reached the area leading onto the forecourt, Sue and Allison Melloh held the banner up, a Federal Police Office on Security duty came on his bike, asked us what the banner was and told us that banners are banned from the forecourt.
As soon as we apologised and explained to him that it was the Light Horse Banner he smiled and gave us a gentle warning not to display the banner in the House or anywhere on the Forecourt of the House. It was the Light Horse Banner and Sue’s apology that softened his heart.
We believe our prayers were powerful and God’s hand was on us all day. His presence filled the atmosphere and it was a blessing to spend a day in the company of a bunch of beautiful, Godly prayer warriors aglow for God.
