To Him be the Glory!

All glory and honour goes to God for who I am today, because it was He who called me into Aglow.
It was here that I learned to become a woman of God — my training ground. First, to be a woman who does not compete with man; then a wife, learning how to love my husband unconditionally; a mother, nurturing and training my children; and a friend, no matter what comes my way. That is what Aglow has done for me.
It all began in 1984. That same year, around August, I gave my life back to Jesus and was invited to a women’s meeting. There I encountered love — real love. It was so powerful, unlike anything I had ever known. That very day, at Traralgon Aglow’s very first meeting, I became a member!
The very next year, Stratford Aglow began, and in 1987 I became Vice President. Four years later, we moved Stratford Aglow to Sale.
In 1993, my family moved to Perth, WA, where I joined Perth Day Aglow. Soon after, I heard God ask me to start an Aglow in Fremantle, which launched 18 months later. I later spent time at Midland Aglow, where Kerry Allen was
President, then moved on to Perth Night Aglow. Since I had returned to work, I first served as Treasurer for six months, then in 2005 stepped into the role of President of Perth Night Aglow.
I never had all the skills at the start — but when I said yes to God, He equipped me for everything He asked me to do in Aglow. I am not the same woman I was in 1984. Today, I know who I am in God.
Along the way, I’ve made lifelong friends — people who have spoken into my life and whom I deeply treasure. But the greatest privilege has been encouraging other women: recognising the gifts God placed in them, speaking into their lives, and urging them to rise up into their callings and see themselves as God sees them.
I once shared how the lioness is a picture of a woman — strong, fiercely loyal, nurturing, protective, courageous, and a pillar of her community. Isn’t that the Aglow woman? How powerful has God made women! I could preach a whole sermon right now, but I’ll draw it to a close.
What is my greatest highlight? There are so many, but above all it has been the privilege of walking among the women of Aglow. To rub shoulders with ordinary women made extraordinary through Him — I wouldn’t exchange it for anything.
I am so thrilled that God called me into Aglow, and I will be an Aglow woman to my very last breath. I look forward to seeing what He will do in 2026!
