Restoring Wounded Hearts

PRESENCE Conference Speakers, Peter and Katie Dunstan: Breakfree Australia.
Breakfree Australia was set up about a decade ago, which was primarily established to see people set free, equipped and empowered. It's an apostolic, prophetic ministry that provides training, equipping and activation for the body of Christ in the Fivefold areas. We’re also revivalists at heart!
Essentially, we hear from the Throne room of Heaven, where the Lord directs us, and we step out in what’s just radical obedience! We see him move so powerfully in supernatural miracles and healings. It's just the releasing of the Father's heart through the ministry to the people, because he knows every need. He's so faithful to provide that.
But undergirding all this, is that it's the Father's heart because that's what changes lives when people have an encounter with the Father.
In our ministry, there are many in the body of Christ who are carrying wounds and trauma. Some of it is self-inflicted, but much of it also happens in childhood where it’s then suppressed. People learn how to simply function with it.
As a result, we deal with highly complex trauma as well, but what we find is that we'll often start a seminar, then ask for those who are carrying emotional wounds and the number’s significant.
There is a countless range of things that trigger this, and as we look across the body of Christ, one of the things that I'm aware of is what I call an orphan heart. When people get wounded, they kind of move away from others. They find relationships difficult. They emotionally disconnect from others and from God, and they can then become comparative and competitive.
Instead, our heart is to see God restore people into sonship, not functioning from a heart of an orphan, but from the heart of a son and daughter.
The scriptural foundation for where we come from is Isaiah 61, which Jesus repeats in Luke 4, which is the Spirit of the Lord God is upon me because the Lord has anointed me to preach good news to the poor, to bind up the broken heart, to set the captives free.
And then it goes on saying, to restore the devastation of generations.
One of the things we’re aware of, is recognising that there can be devastation through generations. Through traumatic experiences, it has children grow up in pain, and then that generational cycle of pain is continued.
Often in a seminar, we may arrive at a point, where we just say that this ongoing situation in your lives isn’t only affecting you, but it’ll inform your legacy.
If you can pursue healing, get free from substance abuse - whatever the trauma - then the fruit of that is going to be generational for generations to come. This is equally about blessing your future generations.
Another component is that where's there's been cursing, we break the power of those curses and that's generationally as well. We’re committed to seeing generational curses broken, cleansing the bloodline and releasing His blessing for a thousand generations in its place!
A common aspect to trauma, is that often people ignore the fact that emotional trauma can be part of physical trauma too. So while they fix things physically, they're overlooking the other.
We've seen in many cases there’s a link between healing of emotional trauma and physical healing. We find that when Jesus heals the underlying trauma, it makes way for the physical condition to be healed.
It’s all part of what people can expect from these Conference sessions, as healings are all Holy Spirit directed where He identifies a root. And once the root cause is identified, then we can look at what fruit is manifesting in our lives as well, as that then needs to be healed.
We’d love to share some testimonies that are clear examples of when emotional trauma impacts the physical!
A Pastor’s Heart (literally): There was a pastor who was living in another country and returned to Australia because of a chronic physical heart condition. It was a serious life and death matter.
During the worship, the Lord asked that she seek prayer for the healing of her physical heart. So praying and through a word of knowledge, we realized that there was a block in the Spirit, where we were led to ask whether she had been emotionally wounded in the last six to 12 months?
Answering yes, we felt prompted to enquire whether she’d been able to forgive and release, to which she advised that this was something being worked through daily.
Standing with her in the power of agreement and then walking her through a prayer of forgiveness, we were then able to pray for the healing of her emotional heart, followed by prayer for physical healing.
A few weeks later, we received a text message from her advising that they were at the cardiologist, sharing that she was ‘completely healed.’ There was no sign of the condition in her ECG. Here was medical evidence of her physical healing, as a result of her emotional wound being healed!
Tradesman’s Spine: Another tis that when in Kalgoorlie recently, there were some men who were part of the residential drug rehab program who came to our seminar. One of them had fallen off a two-story roof, fractured his spine and been in chronic pain for about five years.
I (Peter) said to this young guy, “you would have suffered trauma from that, so let's pray and release your body from that. Once done we’ll then pray for your back.”
I've discovered that often people ignore the emotional trauma that's part of the physical trauma too, so while they fix up their bodies, they've forgotten that they've suffered another form of trauma too.
I then prayed for the trauma and that God would release it from his body. From there, I prayed for his back and asked him to bend and stretch. His back was instantly healed!
First Responders: This is a completely different side to trauma. At a recent seminar, there was an ambulance officer and police offer who had both been first responders for around 20 years.
Following a session on trauma, the police officer came for prayer between sessions and he said, “I've got this lump in my guts.”
I knew he was referring to the trauma that he'd been carrying by being a first responder and seeing suicides, car accidents and all of that.
After I started praying for this police officer, he began to continually dry reach. Taking him to a separate room, for about the next 15-20 minutes he just dry reached until 20 years of trauma was released from his body.
The Lord completely transformed Him. His whole countenance was transformed!
The ambulance officer also had a similar, but different form of physical manifestation where his was more just tears. He just cried and wept. Again, he was completely released from the trauma of his profession that he'd been carrying as part of his job for many years.
All of this is to say, that for those who have suffered a history of trauma, abuse, pain, rejection, or fear – whatever their situation - the Lord wants to minister to them. Our passion is to see people come into wholeness at this Conference.
Healing the Wounded Heart Tool Kits:
Secondly, our ministry is to also equip the Body of Christ in preparation for revival by seeing an army of heart healers raised up in the nation so they can take healing back out!
We know revival is coming to our nation – it's already beginning in pockets around the country. So as God prepares His people to be used for this and reformation, what if that army of reformers that are rising up... are wounded soldiers?
When people come into the Kingdom, they're going to come in broken because they've suffered abuse and pain. It’s why we need an army of ‘heart healers’ raised up in the nation who can minister to trauma, where lives can be healed, discipled, and move on in the fulness of His purposes.
It’s why at our Conference sessions, we’re committed to giving the body of Christ a toolkit to return with and do the same for others.
He wants to heal our inner wounds, so we can move forward with force to forge the way forward for all that He’s purposing ahead!
In closing, regarding our nation generally and pending revival, Aglow as a movement plays such a key role in the South Pacific, because it's set up right across the nation and across the Pacific Islands. It’s pivotally placed to impact the region, along with other ministries, to actively help see the fulfilment of these nations become the Great South Lands of the Holy Spirit as was originally prophesied.
We think the Conference in Tasmania, therefore, will be a very significant event. While God’s doing much across the body of Christ, our sense is that He's given a particular assignment to Aglow, where this season is one of equipping and empowering for what's to come.
We feel like He's given us a window of opportunity to get people ready for what's about to unfold – that'll it’ll be a time where we come to know who and whose we are, to equip and shift the landscape of the land that He has set us all in.
As a forerunner nation, it all then gives reason to why the Christian world’s eyes are noticing Australia again, particularly Tasmania. In fact, there have been international prophets only recently led to come out and strike the ground in that state, all in preparation ‘to release the wave’ of His glory!
Tasmania has currently become the epicentre of what God seems to be doing in Australia in the lead up to an outpouring. We sense there's something very powerful on the timing and the location of the Conference.
