An Aglow Wedding

This is a God story from beginning to end about our dear sister in Christ, Rebecca.

Rebecca arrived in Bundaberg eight years ago—battered, abused, and a victim of domestic violence. Her little boy had been removed from her care. One night, she was found at the train station, alone and crying, by a man of God who simply asked if she was alright. God used this kind stranger to help rescue Rebecca, stand with her in her darkest hours, and find her accommodation when nothing was available in Bundaberg at the time.

Ron, the kind stranger, introduced Rebecca to Eve—one of our Bundaberg Aglow members. Gentle and gracious, Eve patiently opened her heart to Rebecca, pouring in the wine of God’s love, mercy, and wisdom. Together with Ron, she led Rebecca to the Lord.

It took persistence and love to walk Rebecca through her past traumas and into the new day God had for her. But God had positioned these two precious people right beside her because He knew they would be tenacious and never give up. Ron and Eve remained faithful to the task and became her spiritual parents.

In due time, Eve invited Rebecca to Aglow, where she finally met the many women who had been praying for her for months. Eventually, she found her place at the GameCHANGERS Bible study in Gaylene’s home, where she began to mix with women of all ages every fortnight. Relationships were formed, and Rebecca discovered a safe place to grow and enjoy the company of other women. Ron would lend Rebecca his car so she could attend Bible studies while he babysat her two sons.

Rebecca’s heart was always to be married, create a loving home for her two boys, and give them a normal life. The accommodation they lived in became increasingly unsuitable, with unsavory tenants and no other options available. However, Rebecca had learned the power of prayer and trust in God, making it part of her daily walk. She cried out earnestly to the Lord to rescue them—and prayed for a husband. Many of her Aglow sisters joined her in prayer, believing for a godly man to come into her life.

In 2023, the Lord orchestrated a divine encounter—Rebecca met Dan, her soon-to-be husband. At their Wedding Breakfast, Dan testified that what attracted him most to Rebecca was the Jesus qualities he saw in her, time and time again. The love of God radiated from her life. Eventually, Dan gave his heart to the Lord and began his own amazing journey of faith. Rebecca’s sons embraced him wholeheartedly because he showed them a father’s love and a new way of living. Then, Dan proposed—and Rebecca said, “Yes!”

Rebecca’s mother had passed away when she was young, leaving her with no family to help her prepare for a wedding. She had no idea how to plan one. But God had already prepared a team for her. One of the beautiful young GameCHANGER women, Bree—who had been married just a year earlier—stepped in to help. Over the next few months, a domino effect took place. One by one, the GameCHANGER girls got involved, each playing a role, big or small, in preparing this bride for her special day. It was completely unplanned—just a God-orchestrated movement of love and support.

Bree became Rebecca’s Matron of Honour. Julianne hosted a beautiful Bridal Shower for her. Blessing after blessing arrived at Rebecca’s doorstep—her wedding gown, shoes, manicures, hair & makeup, bouquets—all gifted to her. We could see God’s hand in every detail. Through it all, Rebecca remained the most humble, gracious, and thankful person we had ever met.

When challenges arose (as they always do), she was on her knees—trusting God, worshipping Him in the midst of every trial. Heather, Val, and Kristine faithfully covered her in prayer, keeping every situation before the throne of grace as her wedding day approached.

The Lord spoke to my heart that Rebecca is a woman without guile. She never got upset, never took offense, and never demanded her own way—always teachable, always correctable, always grateful. She was overwhelmed by the love of God shown to her by her Aglow family.

As she walked down the aisle on the arm of her spiritual father, Ron, she radiated joy—like a dream come true. Her spiritual mother, Eve, read scripture during the ceremony. Sarah and Elka captured the day through photography, alongside Dan’s proud father.

It was a memorable, sacred day for one of Aglow’s precious daughters. As a final moment of worship, Rebecca ended her reception by singing two worship songs to the Lord—completely abandoned in His presence, unashamed, and full of gratitude. Those in attendance were deeply moved as they witnessed her pure-hearted devotion.

Aglow is no longer officially functioning in Bundaberg, but we share this story as a testimony—a reminder of the fruit that comes from years of God knitting us together at the GameCHANGERS table.

To Him be all the glory. Hallelujah!
