What is in your hands?

What is in your hands?

This is a familiar question we may ponder in our walk with God in relation to both our walk with Him and our call to Serve Him.

About a month ago I heard the Father say to me:

"You can't hold onto something by grasping it. I have to give it to you."

With those words I felt a strong assurance, comfort and deep peace.

We love and serve our Heavenly Father, not by holding things tightly but holding what He has placed in our hands with open hands surrendered to Him. I continue to go back and read this entry in my journal thinking on what it meant to me at the time.

This week I felt to read the story of Nicodemus again. As I wandered on through the chapter I found words spoken by John the Baptist to his disciples when they were concerned that Jesus was baptising people and they were following Him.

John's response was, "No one can receive anything unless God gives it from heaven."

Let me encourage you to hold with open hands the call God has given to you. It is never about position or title it is all about serving and walking with great love and commitment to our loving God in a living relationship. We can be assured He will always be with us as we listen and respond to what He speaks to our hearts.

As Jesus was being harassed again by those who were seeking to kill Him these are His words, "I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing of Himself. He does only what He sees the Father doing. Whatever the Father does, the Son also does." John 5:19

This is our confidence and hope as we obey the promptings of the Lord every day in our lives. It is not ours to grasp but ours to hold openly in our hands knowing God has called us at this time with a strong call for our nation and the local community we are each part of.

With love
