Contending for the Crossing Over - Week 3

November 15, 2018

Call to Prayer for 21 Days of seeking the Holy Spirit

November 14 - 21

Contending means to compete to win something or struggle to surmount a difficulty. We are contending to find the fresh ways of the Spirit in our midst leaving the familiar ways behind. From Richmond Virginia Jubilee Conference through Sydney King of Glory Conference the word to us has been the same - Aglow it is a new era!

We are not comfortably sitting in what we know to do, it is a new pathway ahead.

We have to contend to cross over. The river that Joshua had to cross was in full flood and looked impossible! But God had new things ahead. New sources of supply, new territories to take for the Kingdom. This is the journey Aglow is on and we must be brave, courageous, obedient and trusting.

The scriptures we have pondered and prayed have shown us clearly the ONLY SOURCE of new, abundant, fruitful life is to be intimately connected to the "true sprouting vine" and to be filled with life, power and His love which enable His mighty power to work in us.

The two passages we will contemplate and pray into this week are below. When Joshua encountered the Commander of the Lord's armies it was not the action to be taken (take off your shoes) that mattered, it was a response in Joshua's heart to the Holy presence of God. The Lord showed who was in control as they were about to take the city of Jericho.

Let us bow in worship before our God this week.

The second passage is also from Conference, Psalm 24.

This Psalm calls us to total surrender in heart and action allowing us to be the gates through whom the King of Glory can enter every place where we stand personally and where Aglow has a foothold. We are positioned that He may come into the city, the community where we are.

Ben said, "Are you ready to be the generation who seek His face not just His hands?"

Let us seek His face this week, not for what we can receive, but that we all may know the King of Glory more intimately and surrender our lives afresh to Him and His plans.

Joshua 5:13-15

Now when Joshua was near Jericho, he looked up and saw a man standing in front of him with a drawn sword in his hand. Joshua went up to him and asked, “Are you for us or for our enemies?”

“Neither,” he replied, “but as commander of the army of the Lord I have now come.” Then Joshua fell facedown to the ground in reverence, and asked him, “What message does my Lord have for his servant?”

The commander of the Lord’s army replied, “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy.” And Joshua did so.

Psalm 24

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it,
    the world, and all who live in it;
for he founded it on the seas
    and established it on the waters.

Who may ascend the mountain of the Lord?
    Who may stand in his holy place?
The one who has clean hands and a pure heart,
    who does not trust in an idol
    or swear by a false god.

They will receive blessing from the Lord
    and vindication from God their Savior.
Such is the generation of those who seek him,
    who seek your face, God of Jacob.

Lift up your heads, you gates;
    be lifted up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is this King of glory?
    The Lord strong and mighty,
    the Lord mighty in battle.
Lift up your heads, you gates;
    lift them up, you ancient doors,
    that the King of glory may come in.
Who is he, this King of glory?
    The Lord Almighty—
    he is the King of glory.

This week as we culminate our united prayer across the land, meditate on the scriptures and let us come before the Lord giving thanks and bowed in worship before Him. We ask nothing but adore Him and abide in Him AS ONE.

We give grateful thanks to You our triune God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit. You are our source of life and power and we humbly bow before You giving all glory and honour to Your holy name. Amen.

As God gives you revelation, a prayer of declaration or a treasure from the word as you pray, tell us via return email or email executive@aglowaus.com.au with a few sentences that can be shared.
